HRH Princess Alia Al Hussein – Princess Alia Foundation (Jordan) It is time that everyone acts responsibly towards wild animals. We no longer have the excuse that we are not aware of the suffering, stress and unfairness they experience as circus performers. If indeed there is lack of awareness then all the more reason to spread the true information. Wild animals deserve to live natural lives and not be slaves to human caprice. |

His Grace Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu I abhor any and all cruelty whether of human beings or animals. |

Braam Malherbe – Environmentalist, Motivational Speaker and TV presenter Putting an animal in a cage and parading it in a circus to entertain humans is sad, both for the animal and for our species. Animals are sentient and deserve respect and dignity. We disrespect ourselves when we disrespect animals. |

Charné Jade Slee – South African Model It is highly concerning to me how humankind can claim wild animals for their amusement. It is cruel to confine these animals to cages and subject them to extensive travel. Furthermore to force them in undergoing vigorous training by methods unknown to the public that pay in the name of entertainment. Stop the support of animals in circus acts, this is slavery.

Circus Allegria - Neil Cohen and Marcello Di Lello "When we know better, we do better. If they could speak, what would they say?" "Circus Allegria is South Africa`s first animal-free travelling circus. We`re changing tradition!" |

Claire Johnston – the voice and face of Mango Groove To see any wild creature out of its natural habitat, trapped in a cruel performing environment, is very distressing indeed. I urge everyone to stop supporting these sorts of shows. |

Des and Dawn Lindberg – South African Singers/Entertainers Men of all races plundered wild spaces Whatever they saw they claimed Captured, constrained, tortured, restrained Caged and "trained”, explained and blamed The desire people have to be entertained They humiliate and dominate to make a quick buck Before goading and loading them into a truck To show them to more people who don't give a (oops... ran out of space)... Anyway you get the point! Just don't buy the tickets. |

Karolina Sky – SA Fitness Advisor, Business Entrepreneur and Model I am an animal lover and am completely against the use of animals for any circus use. As humans we have a choice and can voice our opinions, likes and dislikes. If humans want to be part of a circus act they do so willingly! Animals on the other hand have no choice, their character is broken down to conform. I believe their heart and soul aches to get out of the caged circus environment. Animals belong in the wild….. let humans stick to entertaining each other! |

Michelle Garforth-Venter – Television Anchor, Producer and Journalist Wild animals deserve to stay in the wild and not live out a life confined behind bars – never feeling soil beneath their paws, the thrill of hunting for a meal, the pleasure of species social interaction or fulfilling the instinct to find a mate. Circuses are sad and lonely places loaded with abuse – teach our children integrity and do not support the circus when it comes to town. |

Ntokozo Mbuli – Anchor Presenter for SABC2 50/50 Every animal has a right to live a healthy life in its natural habitat. Imagine if you were mistreated and put on display and made to do tricks in front of an audience. How would you feel? Think twice before you support the circus. |

Riaan Garforth-Venter – Television Presenter Humans are extremely dangerous, we sacrifice animals on alters of profit. When the needs for an animal conflict with human needs, the animal always suffers. Do not support circuses. If you do, you are supporting cruelty at its highest level. |

Scott Lope: Animal activist, conservationist, exotic animal expert/presenter for CNN, History Channel, and Animal Planet, and the star of the new Discovery Channel series Wild Animal Repo which exposes the cruelty and dangers of wild animals kept as pets To see such magnificent creatures chained and tormented for the amusement of people is beyond cruel and the tortured lives they are forced to endure is nothing short of a crime. Now is the time for enlightenment and compassion, we need to end this archaic, barbaric practice and ensure that these beautiful animals continue to exist in the wild where they belong before it is too late and they are gone forever. |

Sheila Siddle – Founder of Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage (Chimpanzee Sanctuary) The NSPCA is an organisation that I greatly admire. They try so hard to teach people that kindness is not just for humans only. We at Chimfunshi have received a few chimpanzees who were confiscated from circuses. Their condition on arriving told its own story about how traumatised and abused they had been. We humans are killing the planet with our deforestation and the use of wild animals for entertainment – food and research – all for our selfish benefit. There are so many ways we humans can get our entertainment without having to put animals through the traumas of being forced to perform tricks which are so unnatural. When not performing these poor animals are kept – usually alone in very small cages. Taking young children to circuses is no way to teach them about the natural environment or respect for the wonderful animals. |

Wendy Willson – Field Presenter, SABC2 50/50 If the greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated, then the existence of animal centred circus acts in South Africa does not contribute anything at all to our country's progression. |
